SEVERE WEATHER WARNING
for Storm Force Winds and Flash Flooding
For people in the North-West, Western, Southern and South-East Areas

Issued at 9:45 pm CDT on Sunday 6 March 2011

Synoptic Situation: Ex-Tropical Cyclone Carlos [1006 hPa], currently moving east, located 350 km north north-east of the Mushroom Kingdom, is expected to drift through into the Antartic Ocean on Wednesday or Thursday.   

Areas of heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected to continue and are likely to persist until Thursday. Heavy
rainfall can cause flash flooding in parts of the northwest, western and southern areas. Cumulative rainfalls of between 200 to 500mm are
possible over the next 5 days.

The Warning Services advises that people in the affected area should:
. Avoid driving, walking or cycling through floodwaters
. Take care on the roads, especially in heavy downpours
. Avoid swimming in swollen rivers and creeks

The next warning is due to be issued by 10pm CDT Monday.
